Understanding AUD Regen: Optimizing Geometry in Substation Design Suite

Akhilesh Trivedi

During the design process in Substation Design Suite Physical for AutoCAD, it can sometimes be challenging to generate the graphics in the drawing as per the designer’s requirements due to large file sizes. If this happens, the AUD Regen tool allows you to regenerate the drawing and set the geometry as per the need and configuration of the designer.

AUD Regen (AUDREGEN) can be found in the drop-down list under the Update Model command, as shown in the image below. This tool reads fresh data in the embedded database and reconstructs geometry accordingly.

Note that there are two options:

1.        AUD Regen Selected prompts the user to select one or more features to regenerate.

2.        AUD Regen asks to regenerate the entire drawing, as well as audit against the database.

The following are example use cases for these commands:

  •     If the geometry does not look as expected (per the attribute values in the Dashboard).
  •        If conductors remain in 2D mode after selecting Line Mode 3D.
  •     After certain AUD Options are changed.
  •     After an embedded database recovery.
  •     To refresh a conductor’s geometry.

When you use this command, it will automatically generate the correct drawing design as per the designer’s configuration set to various features in the design. To learn more about AUD Regen, you join our training class, Substation Design Suite Physical for AutoCAD.
