You have two options when working with teams over the cloud.
- Collaborating a model from with Revit
- Uploading a model directly to BIM 360 Docs
Collaborating a model from with Revit
Within Revit 2019 and 2018.3 you will first save your model locally. You will not use this model after collaborating so you can either archive it or delete it once the collaboration is successful and you can close/open/sync to the cloud and publish.
- Collaborate to the cloud by going to the Collaborate tab and clicking on Collaborate.
- If you are using Revit 2018.3 you will see three options:
- Within your network
- This option is for creating a central model on your local company server.
- In BIM 360 Team
- This option is for creating a cloud model on the team.bim360.com website.
- In BIM 360 Document Management
- This option is for creating a cloud model on the admin.b360.autodesk.com.
- Within your network
* If you are using Revit 2018 and you do not see the option "In BIM 360 Document Management" then you need to update your software. Here is how to update your software: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/download-install/install-software/update-software/enhancements
Revit 2019 Collaborate dialog box
Make sure your model name is what you want it to be and select on the BIM 360 site you want to collaborate to.
Select the project name and then 'Project Files' folder.
Once you are inside the appropriate folder you will click Initiate. It is very important that you do not save inside the shared or consumed folders these are a part of the Design Collaboration Teams.
Uploading a model directly to BIM 360 Docs
If you have a .dwg, .ifc, .nwc, or even an .rvt that doesn't need to be collaborated through Revit you can manually upload the model so others can link it into their model if needed. There are three different ways to upload your model to the cloud.
1. Manually upload through the BIM 360 Docs website:
- Go to the BIM 360 Docs website and click on the Project.
- On the Document Management module click on the folder you want to upload your file to and click the blue Upload button.
This will be the way you will upload various file types like; .dwg, .nwc, .ifc, etc.
2. Saving a non-worsharing .rvt through Revit option 1:
- Inside Revit go to the File pulldown menu.
- Click 'Save As'
- Click 'Project'
- In the Save As dialog box click on the "Save in:" dropdown menu and change it to 'This PC'.
- Click on 'BIM 360'
- Click on the Site name
- Click on the Project
- Click on the Project folder where you want to save the nonworkshare model.
3. Saving a non-worsharing .rvt through Revit option 2:
- Inside Revit go to the File pulldown menu.
- Click 'Save As'
- Click on 'Cloud Model'
- In the Save as Cloud Model dialog box click on the projects name to the left of the dialog box. On the right, click on the Folder that you want to save your model in.
