New Features and Enhancements in IMAGINiT Clarity 2021.1

IMAGINiT Clarity allows project teams to improve BIM project outcomes. With unique task automation and analytics, Clarity offers the ability to save time on Revit projects and understand how different aspects of the model affect project performance.

  • Save time and effort by automating manual tasks
  • Improve project integrity with valuable Revit model health metrics
  • Reduce costs associated with human error through automatic generation of room, equipment, furniture, and other data sheets
  • Gain insight by liberating information from Revit models to extend to additional applications.
  • Secure and protect project data with administrative tools and project-level security

Firms using IMAGINiT Clarity save an average of more than 200 hours per year per project. To date, IMAGINiT Clarity has saved more than 1,000,000 hours on AEC projects.

 Security 2021.1

Secure Projects Visibility- Initially added in 2021 to allow additional SQL users, 2021.1 includes view restrictions for Global Project Coordinators unless access is explicitly authorized.

File Browse Restrictions & Helpers – Allowing users to browse as the Clarity service account can pose additional risk. Admins continue to have open access with new options to control browsing permissions for non-admin users. Shortcuts can replace the UNC path, remove unnecessary options, even limit browsing to the project folder.

Post Task Action Security – Post task actions, executed primarily on the webserver, now have options to disable the visibility and access to users.

Security Rules – Provides administrator-applied rules by project, office, secure-project setting, and task server requiring specified trusted paths or user security context.  Control where thoroughly vetted scripts reside and choose to only run from those locations. Prevents unauthorized script running by requiring "alternate user" with user name and password. Similar to the windows "run as admin" feature. Offers a lower privilege Clarity Service account to use regularly or occasionally as a high-privilege user. Additionally, suppose security rules are not set up. In that case, there's an option to assign on-demand that controls access at the task level.

Disaster Recovery – Perform weekly SQL backups of the centralized RandRevit database. This is Ideal for clients running a SQL Server Express on the same machine as the host.

 Task Automation 2021.1

Customizable Launch UI – Override parameters of launchable tasks through the web or inside Revit and prompts users for input upon launch. The task creator illustrates what can be overridden and what cannot.

Error Monitoring – Notifies task coordinators of errors that continue to fail and offers the option to disable the task until fixed.

Task Details UI Mechanism – Gain improved usability with a redesigned dialogue box that allows customization of task details.

Revit Model Checker – Configure your preferred Revit Model Checker standards, execute the review, receive a report, capture issues, and view model metrics.

 BIM 360 Integration 2021.1

Custom Attributes – Now available in the IMAGINiT Clarity API. Upload to BIM360 as a post-task action and set custom attributes like sheet and project parameters from Revit and other sources.

Upload to Model Coordination – A new option to align with current model coordination best practices.  This process offers improved linking with Revit files by publishing the latest version and then copying it to a new folder.

 Clarity Client Reporting 2021.1

Revit Session Tracking – Initially introduced in the 2021 release Revit Session Tracking reports time spent working on Revit models.  Expanded in 2021.1, clients can view who is using Revit and for how long in the CAD Management section.

External Odata Links – Gain access to Clarity data for use in SQL Management Studio, and Microsoft Excel and PowerBI.  Similar to the 2021 External Link tools, this enhancement allows easier access to:

  • Most common tables (rooms, spaces, areas, levels, phases, and models)
  • Clarity reports
  • Model metric summary data
  • 200 other project data tables

Additional Enhancements in 2021.1

  • ProjectWise: multiple credentials
  • ProjectWise metadata pull
  • Update available immediately on install
  • Windows task server logging
  • Better long-path support in Clarity Monitoring Service
  • Better stickiness of column changes in grids
  • Choose your preferred project view – tile or list
  • Project number on the assign page
  • BIMTrack – Backup issues as BCF
